Pelvic issues affect 1 in 5 women, causing pain, reducing quality of life, and impacting confidence.
These issues include bladder and pelvic floor dysfunction, incontinence, prolapse, and sexual health concerns.
Many suffer in silence, believing it is just part of being a woman – the result of having had children or experiencing the menopause, but that needn’t be the case. At First Contact Health, we provide comprehensive care for women at all stages of life to address and manage these conditions effectively.
Shweta Bhagra, our specialist in Pelvic Health is dedicated to helping women overcome both pain and the related problems including bladder and pelvic floor dysfunction, incontinence, pelvic organ prolapses or sexual dysfunction.
Shweta provides a completely confidential, caring and practical approach and will formulate a treatment plan specifically for you whether you are about to become a mum, have recently had a baby, have had ongoing problems for years or a just experiencing new symptoms. If you are pre or peri-menopausal, menopausal or post-menopausal.
Many people believe that musculoskeletal pain is just a normal part of pregnancy. However, there are safe and effective treatments that can ease the discomfort of pregnancy.
In an antenatal consultation, Shweta will help you understand why you may be experiencing pain, teach you how you can stay fit and active throughout your pregnancy, and provide practical strategies to help you physically prepare for labour.
The Mummy MOT is a nationally-recognised, specialist postnatal examination for women following both vaginal and C-section deliveries.
Up to half of all women experience weakness in both the abdominal muscles and pelvic floor muscles after pregnancy and up to a third still have a tummy gap at eight weeks post-birth.
This can cause instability or poor core strength leading to women developing pelvic or back pain or bladder and bowel dysfunction. These conditions should not be something you should just put up with as a result of having a baby.
Shweta is a Certified Mummy MOT practitioner she will assess how your posture, pelvic floor muscles and stomach muscles are recovering after childbirth and provide you with gentle exercises and treatment to help with your recovery – and get you back on track with your fitness goals.
It’s recommended that you have an initial Mummy MOT assessment after your 6-8 week GP check, but we can treat up to 52 weeks.
If you are living with a diagnosed condition or experiencing ongoing symptoms over 52 weeks of giving birth, our women’s health rehab service can help you.
Unlock valuable insights into your fertility prospects, mood, and overall well- being. Our comprehensive blood test examines a wide range of indicators pertinent to your long-term health, including thyroid function and more.
