Quadriceps Tendinopathy Pain

Quadriceps are a large group of muscles that can be found at the front of the thigh and are in responsible for hip and knee movement. Quadricep tendinopathy refers to the tendon that connect the quadricep muscle to the top of the kneecap (patella) and its function is to help straighten the knee, often used in movements such as going up stairs, walking and running. Tendinopathy refers to that tendon becoming overworked, and a result becomes strained. This can cause the tendon to thicken and sustain micro tears, this causes pain and inflammation.

Signs and symptoms

  • Pain at the bottom of the thigh
  • Swelling around the quadricep tendon (just above the kneecap)
  • Stiffness in the morning
  • Lowered range of movement
  • Sore when touching
