Whether you’re dealing with persistent pain or lingering doubts, MRI scans offer a proactive approach to your health.
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging) offers a non-invasive and radiation-free method of scrutinising internal bodily structures, providing detailed and precise images that can pinpoint everything from the cause of joint pain or kidney stones to hernias, arthritis and cancer.
MRI’s cutting-edge technology has the ability to identify Stage 1 solid tumours and detect over 500 medical conditions to give you greater insights into your health.
We often only consider our health when there is something wrong, at which point the damage may already be done. A proactive approach to health screening with an MRI scan gives you invaluable insights into your overall health status and, should your scan uncover any issues, enables prompt medical intervention enhancing the likelihood of successful treatment outcomes.
Prior to the scan you will be asked a number of questions to ensure you are suitable. MRI
is an incredibly safe procedure but because it uses a very strong magnetic field, it may not be suitable for people with metal in their body such as pacemakers, joint replacements or metal pins. (Patients who fall into this category may still be able to have a parts scan.)
Radiologists review and report on your scan and the First Contact Health GP provides you with your results within 5 days.
Should there be anything that requires further investigation, you may need to come back for detailed scans of the area. If further treatment or referral is necessary, we will assist you and can pass on your scan to any specialists if required.
Our in-house extremity MRI scanner can scan lower limb (foot, ankle, knee) and upper limb (hand, wrist and elbow).
The machine is open plan, eliminating the problem of claustrophobia.
Your MRI will be reported by a team of Specialist Consultant Musculoskeletal Radiologists in the UK.
You do not need a GP referral. Our Specialist Clinicians are trained to assess you and make a referral for an MRI scan if appropriate.
To see if you may benefit from an MRI scan, make a diagnostic appointment with one of our Specialist Clinicians:
