Injection therapy is often used in conjunction with physiotherapy to expedite the rehabilitation process of shoulders, knees, hips, wrists, elbows, ankle and sacroiliac joints.

Platelet-Rich Plasma, corticosteroid, and ultrasound-guided injections are utilised as part of injection therapy, often combined with physiotherapy to expedite the rehabilitation process.

These injections target joints in the limbs and sacroiliac joints in the pelvis and lower spine to help reduce inflammation and alleviate pain.

We can treat:

  • Rotator cuff issues
  • Frozen shoulder
  • Tendinitis
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Torn meniscus
  • Bursitis
  • Tennis and golfers elbow

We offer a variety of injections:

  • PRP
  • Corticosteroid
  • Ultrasound guided injection

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelets are cells that are found in blood and are responsible for clotting. They also contain growth factors, which are proteins involved in the repair of damaged tissue.

PRP is a concentration of a patient’s own platelets that are injected into an injured area to reduce inflammation and pain.

Corticosteroid Injections

Steroids reduce inflammation and provide pain relief. Inflammation often causes pain by compressing the surrounding tendons and nerves so patients suffering from inflamed joints particularly benefit from this type of injection and it is frequently used to treat mild arthritis in the knee, shoulder, and small joints in the foot and ankle.

However, it is important to note that Corticosteroid injections do not reverse damage caused to the tissues, nor reverse wear and tear in the joint.

Ultrasound Guided Injections

These are injections performed under the guidance of ultrasound scans. Research suggests that although non-guided injections offer improvements in pain equal to those of guided injections, the rates of complication and accuracy of ultrasound guided injections demonstrate far better outcomes. Guided injections are particularly useful for small joints which may be difficult to inject without imaging guidance.
