Jaw Pain

The jaw joint also known as temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a hinge joint and is made up of the bone called the condyle, the disk that is in between the condyle and the cranium (skull). The joint is located approximately 1cm close to your ear. The disk acts as a smooth cushion for the joint allowing it to move fluidly and pain free. When the joint is inflamed (swollen), worn and torn, or directly been hurt through physical trauma can cause the jaw to become painful.
